History of the Freezer
The Freezer was built in 1941. The walls were insulated with 12” of cement, 8” of cork followed by 2” of plaster. The freezer was kept at sub zero using a machine that ran ammonia through pipes in the ceiling.
For 80+ years, it housed Mennonite and farm family’s frozen goods, animal pelts, raw meat, bags of ice and anything else that needed to be kept frozen.
It was owned by C.H. Bieman (Beth’s grandfather), Burton Pinder (Beth’s father) before Beth & Tom Fischer took it over in 2015.
The ammonia machine was shut down in early 2021 to create the fitness facility and thus is gained its very relevant name of Freezer Fitness which opened in June 2021.
Philosophy of Freezer Fitness
Using the Freezer space to create a sense of community for like-minded individuals who seek movement to reach their individual goals enhancing their overall physical, mental and emotional wellbeing.
